In case you are wondering why this site came to be, here’s a little history. For the past year I have been immersed in the UC San Diego online MicroMasters as offered by edX. Some students connected on a LinkedIn group. These probably represent above average motivated students and those who engaged quite a bit in the edX discussion forum. The LinkedIn group and the edX discussion forum are not ideal to discuss and conduct conversations related to the Data Science course. So after contacting Professor Yoav Freund I decided to start something that would offer a better experience and more control. Hopefully the Discourse site and other features of The Nerderlands can facilitate this and turn into something valuable for the community. For now it is indeed early days.
